Rasmussen Log Homes Header
Each log used in the construction of a Rasmussen Log Home is full length, straight, and with a minimum of taper. Our average mid-span log diameter is 11" to 13". The species of logs used are Engleman Spruce, Douglas  Fir and Western Red Cedar.

Our 9-acre building yard is located in Okanagan Falls, British Columbia Canada.  When we receive logs in our yard they are de-barked and spread out into log decks to air dry. Our logs are air-dried for a minimum of six months before being used for building.

Once a log is selected for construction it is hand peeled using a drawknife. After peeling the log is placed in the hands of our experienced builders. Corners are joined using a "shrink-to-fit" Norwegian notch. All logs are full scribed. Scribing is the process where the contours of the bottom log are duplicated exactly on the underside of the top log using a scribe. Our builders take extra care with this process as it helps to ensure a tight fit in the logs.

Once construction begins, it takes approximately six to eight weeks to build a log shell. When the log shell is completed each log is tagged and numbered. The log shell is then disassembled and loaded onto flat decks for shipping. Depending on the size of the log shell, it will take 2 - 3 days to reassemble onto  your foundation.

A Rasmussen Log Home package includes the following:
